News and Events
Enrichment Begins
Tuesday, October 9

"Bugs are Cool!" and Friday classes "Microbits"  and "Hip Hop (Jazz Dance)" start the week of October 8; all other classes start the week of October 15. Most classes will run through the week of​​ November 26. Make up classes may continue in December. (See the Class Schedule on the Enrichment page for detailed information.)​​​​​​

Sign-Up for Northeast Elementary Basketball!​​​
Grades 3 – 5

Follow this link to register your child for Northeast ​​​Basketball. The Northeast PTA partners with the Ithaca Youth Bureau to provide this program. If you have any questions, contact Laura Dolch. Registration forms and payments are due November 16.

SEPTA is Ithaca City School District's Special Education PTA. This is a district-wide PTA group that welcomes caregivers and teachers from all backgrounds and schools. Click here for more information about SEPTA and the first meeting of this ​​​school year.

Pumkin Carving and Costume Exchange
Thursday, October 18

Come to the Northeast Elementary Cafeteria and  join in the fun​​ at our Family Pumpkin Carving Event. One pumpkin carving kit will be provided per family!

Bring in costumes that your kids have out grown or lost interest in to donate, and choose costumes from other donations that your child would like to take home. There will be tables set up for different sizes. You do not need to donate a costume to take a costume, or participate in the pumpkin  carving.

Ithaca City School District Conference Day

This is a professional learning conference day for district staff.​


​Grade 5 Family UKE Night
Thursday, October 25
6:30 – 7:15pm

Come to school with your fifth grader and learn some tunes on the ukulele! More information to come!​​​​​​ Other grades will be meeting later this year!

Picture Retake Day
Friday, October 26

LifeTouch will be back at Northeast Elementary to take portraits of students who missed Picture Day in September and/or anyone who receives their prints and is unhappy with them.

​Many Box tops are set to expire on November 1. Please se​​​​nd all of your box tops in before October 30, so we don't miss that deadline! Thanks!

Scholastic Book Fair
Monday, November 5 – Friday, November 9

This is a great opportunity for your children to purchase high quality books and for us to support literacy programs at our school. The fair will be open daily from 8am to 10:45am with family night on Wednesday from 5-7pm.

We need volunteers! Please contact Abby if you would like to help out with the fair. We look forward to seeing you there!

Northeast Basketball Registration Forms Due
Friday, November 16

Sciencenter Offers Free Memberships
​to Low-Income Families

​​Through the Sciencenter's Membership Access Program (MAP), regular Sciencenter family memberships are available—free of charge—to families with children who qualify for free or reduced-cost lunch at school, and who reside in Tompkins, Cortland, Cayuga, Seneca, Schuyler, Chemung, or Tioga counties.
